Mantras For a Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

I read a passage that said, “Why do we start a New Year, with promises to improve? Who began this tradition of never ending pressure? I say, the end of a year should be filled with congratulations, for all we’ve survived. And I say a New Year should start with promises to be kinder to ourselves, to understand better just how much we bear as humans on this exhausting treadmill of life. And if we are to promise more, let’s pledge to rest before our bodies force us. Let’s pledge to stop and drink in life as it happens. Let’s pledge to strip away a layer of perfection to reveal the flawed and wondrous humanity we truly are inside. Why start another year, gifted to us on earth, with demands on our already overstrained humanity, when we could be learning to accept that were always supposed to be imperfect. And that is where the beauty lives actually. And if we can only find the beauty, we could also find peace. I wish you peace in 2023. Everything else is all just a part of it. Let it be so. —-Donna Ashworth—

In reading this, I thought, how simple this should be but it also very difficult. In the book, My Head Knows…But My Heart Still Hurts, there is a calendar in the back with daily mantras for each month. I felt as though we could all use some help from time to time to help pledge to drink in life, to rest our bodies. If you are feeling stuck on this treadmill here are mantras for each day of the week for January.

January represents new beginnings. So, our pledge for this new beginning and peel back and find the beauty in ourselves.

  • Monday 1st day of a new week. Mantra: Abundance is waiting for me.

  • Tuesday: Work on smiling. Mantra: I will think of things that make me smile.

  • Wednesday: Self Love Day. Mantra: I am who I am

  • Thursday: Work on forgiveness. Mantra: I release and forgive myself and others

  • Friday: Today dream big. Mantra: Today I will dare to dream boldly.

  • Saturday: Growth. Mantra: Today I will emerge from my chrysalis and soar like a butterfly.

  • Sunday: Day of rest. Meditate and self-care day.

It takes time and a commitment to yourself to do these every day. We are all human, with imperfections. We are supposed to make mistakes to learn and grow. Give yourself permission to not be so hard on yourself. Working with these mantras will be one step closer in this action plan. January, we are working on abundance, smiling, self-love, forgiveness, dreaming and growth. Reminding ourselves that each day is a new day with something to be grateful for. This is another 30-day challenge for you to grow, forgive, heal and live. This is a new tradition to start the New Year. A new year for you to drink in life and live the best life possible.

Live the life you love and love the life you live,

Blessings to you for a wonderful 2023
