Angel and Oracle Cards

I’ve been asked several times to explain the difference between Angel and Oracle cards and how to use them. This seemed like a good topic to talk about. I’m not going to speak about Tarot cards, because they are something I don’t understand enough to explain. There are a lot of great Tarot teachers, so if they are of interest to you, seek them out. Your instincts will lead you to the proper deck. Although, I am no expert, I’m going to speak about my experiences incorporating them into my journey.

When I first started my spiritual path, I was not feeling as though I would use cards as a tool. But, I have to say, the more I opened, the more curious I became. I started to learn what they are and how to use them. They have become a part of my healing regiment. Here is what I learned. Angel cards are designed to connect you to the angelic frequencies and offer divine guidance. They aid in opening up a channel of communication to receive guidance. With practice, they can be a power tool to help you gain clarity, identify areas that need improvement, and help you in transforming your life with a better understanding of your next step on your journey.

Oracle cards are used for self reflection, guidance and insight. It allows you to be more open for interpretation and to use your intuition. Nudging you to go deeper into your own thoughts and feelings about situations you are facing. They are motivating you to grow and think of an action plan.

Both Angel and Oracle cards are used to get your intuition expanding your inner thought process. They can offer validations that you are never alone. Our Angels, Guides, Guardian Angels, and Archangels all work together with our connection to our higher self to the collective.

When I think about how they are created, I believe they have channeled information from the creator of the deck. This channeled information is used to lead you on your path with a guide book for a reference to learn from. When you first start, draw a daily card to help spark the thought process of your intuition. After using the deck several times you will instinctively learn what each card means to you. Be aware that the understanding and meaning may change as you grow. Angel card creators also use their knowledge of the roles of the angels. Being open to receiving this information will become more comfortable as you practice and see the validations you receive. You can experiment with incorporating what the colors on the cards mean to you. Maybe you are well versed in the chakras. Knowing that the colors can correspond with the chakra system. Root Chakra - Red - Survival, grounding, safety - located at the base of the spine. Sacral Chakra - Orange - creativity and sexuality - located in the pelvis area. Solar Plexus -yellow - action - located in the center of the body. Heart Chakra - Green - love, relationships - located in the heart region. Throat Chakra - Blue - communication and truth - located in the throat area. Third Eye Chakra - Indigo - intuition, imagination. Crown Chakra - Violet - connection with the collective - located above the top of your head. The colors may also trigger a specific Archangel helping guide you. Archangel Michael - Blue - the leader, defender. Archangel Jophiel - Yellow - Beautiful thoughts, positive outlook. Archangel Chamuel - Pink - Relationships. Archangel Gabriel - White - Angel of Revelation and communication. Archangel Raphael - Green- Healing or the healer. Different symbols will mean different things to everyone based on life experiences.

When picking a deck be mindful of the first one you notice, that you are drawn to pick up. Notice how it feels in your hands and why it was the one you chose. If you are undecided place the deck in your hands, close your eyes and take notice at any movement in your body. Do you feel yourself moving forward or backward? Do you feel emotional with it in your hands? Did your energy change when you closed your eyes? How do you feel? Then place the other deck in your hands and compare your energy with the first deck. What is different? Which one feels better? Quite honestly, if you are torn between two decks and still can’t decide, grab both. Work with one then switch to the other. There is always a reason why the decision was difficult to make. If one resonates more with you simply place the other one to the side for a later time. Sometimes, I combine two decks if I am looking for Angel and Oracle insight. Some people say that a deck should be purchased for you. I disagree but I understand the thought process. My thought is that someone else may not know exactly what your energy needs. However, if you see a deck and immediately think of someone, then you may be being guided to buy them for this person. Trust your instincts, your intuition, your purpose behind the use of the cards.

A good idea to familiarize yourself with the cards once you’ve gotten home is to touch each individual card. Place your intentions in them. An example would be, “In using these cards I am asking for guidance for my higher self. I ask that my eyes be open to the possibilities of understanding the meanings surrounding the signs and symbols of each card for my higher good and the higher good of those I may communicate with. I ask that only positive love and light emanate for a higher meaning of the spiritual path that I am on or something better. And so it is and so it shall be.” Again, there is no right or no wrong intention to place in the cards as long as you are using them in a positive way. After touching each card, your energy is now connected to them. Shuffle the deck however you feel comfortable. Pull a card. If one falls out of the deck or sticks out that’s your card. Some people say they hear “stop” and they choose the card on top. You will create the method that works best for you. Ok, you’ve pulled your first card, now what? Look at the card, What jumps out at you, what does it mean to you? Grab a journal and a pen and intuitively write. Just let the pen write the words and reflect back on what your wrote. This is a form of automatic writing. How do the words feel in your energy? Note that as well. Now open the book and read the meaning based on the author’s thoughts. How does that feel in your energy? Take notice to the similarities of what you intuitively thought and what the book says. Note it. Think about the card all day and see what clarity you receive. Do this with each and every card. Once you feel comfortable with the deck shuffle it and choose the layout based on the guide book. You can also use your own layout. With practice you will become more comfortable with the messages.

Your spiritual journey can show you different things by using different tools to use. This is just one. You may not feel it necessary to use any tools. Again, no right or wrong. Always remember, all things can be used for good or bad. Place a positive intention into the tools you choose to use.

Find a quiet space, meditate, pull a card, journal, read the guidebook, journal, reflect. You are on your way.

Blessings,

Stacey
