Do Your Research

I am back. I took off last week to celebrate my 30th wedding anniversary. It was a nice quiet day together. I promised myself I would not work only surround myself with conversations with my husband. It was a great day to reconnect and go out for a quiet dinner.

It was difficult to find a topic when you look at the events around the world. Let’s all agree to stand in prayer for all the hurricane victims, the first responders and everyone who is affected by the aftermath of the upcoming storms. I reflected on so much news and videos that I felt we should talk about something different. Today I want to speak with you about Mediumship. This is something I take very seriously and feel called to do. We all have some ability, and this is mine.

Let me first tell you why I felt as though this subjected needed explained not defended. I’m offer you a view from a practicing Evidential Medium. Then you can decide if this is for you or not. I watched a show the other night where Penn and Teller were debunking Mediums, well, they called them Physics. For those of you who do not know, there is a difference between the two. All Mediums are Physic but not all Psychics are Mediums. Seem strange, doesn’t it? You’d think they would go hand in hand, but they do not.

A Psychic has a special mental ability to read the energy of their clients and guide them through past and upcoming events. The events that are connected to their energy. If you’re looking for guidance in your life or soul journey, you’d seek out a Physic. They may use cards or stones to help them focus on what surrounds the energy. Remember, we all have free will and have the ability to change the outcome based on the knowledge received.

A Medium also has the ability to connect with your energy, but they can also connect with your loved ones on the other side in hopes it will offer you a sense of peace. Presenting you evidence that your loved one is ok and is still around. Even though their human body is no more, their spiritual energy is still very much alive.

Having given you this information I want to address Penn and Tellers conclusion. They showed examples of reading by two very well-known Mediums and two that I have never heard of. Now, just because I don’t recognize their names does not mean that they are not great Mediums. I have read the books, listened to podcasts and watched the two well know Mediums facilitate readings several time. One of them I saw in person, watching and observing the way they bring forth the information. I have great respect for both of them. They’ve been doing reading for over 35 years and have done 1000s upon 1000s of readings helping a multitude of people heal and connect with their loved ones. The downside is that there is good TV and bad TV so taping for hours and only using 15 to 20 minutes to find the best footage. So, seeing them in person, I feel is important to this statement.

The two Mediums that I was not familiar, were a bit general in their readings and apparently had a meet and great before the session. During the meet and greet they were asking the audience who they wanted to come through. In all my experience I have never seen this done and would not be something I, personally would do. And if I were in a meet and greet and asked this question, I would simply say, whoever want to show up. During their readings they did ask some questions that in the mediumship world is known as fishing. I’m sorry to say that this happens, I wish that it did not but it shows the lack of confidence on the information that is being received. Maybe, these two mediums were new at being filmed or having a bad night. Or yes, maybe not great Mediums. Showing these clips over and over making a mockery to those of us who truly want to serve Spirit and help other heal.

Let me give you something to think about. All professions get it wrong once in a while. Doctors have surgeries go wrong even when they can be routine. There are mechanics, accountants, hair stylists, lawyers, waitresses etc. that misinterpret something and get it wrong. We all all human, would you agree with me on that statement? None of us are without fault and we have misunderstandings even in a conversation where you are face to face with a person who is alive speaking to you.

They spoke about how Psychics prey upon the vulnerability of those grieving. If that were true, would we not be lined up or advertising at funeral homes, hospice facilities or nursing homes? They also stated that there is no scientific evidence or testing to actually prove the ability to channel. But they are wrong, and I’ll speak of that in a bit. Again, I’m not trying to defend, I am offering information for you to decide on your own.

The one unknown was actually a “recovering” psychic as he called it. He said he was very good at reading body language and had the ability to change his information based on the response of the recipient. And he was one of the ones who did a meet and greet to find out information before doing a reading. Ok, I admit, this guy is not out to help others just himself. There are good and bad intentions around everything. I’m glad he is a “recovering” physic and no longer practices.

The film clips of the two well-known Mediums who are both now in their 60’s, was old footage as both looked to be in their 30’s at the time. So have they scoured through years of tape to find two readings that may be a little questionable, maybe. They showed nothing recent just old footage and old interviews. Mediumship has changed a lot from then to now. If you think back to how the things you are permitted to say on television has changed this may be part of it. I have received bad readings as well as good readings. Sometimes, I’m a bit off. Sometimes, I don’t feel as connected as other readings. It could be that I’m not in the right head space or maybe the sitter is closed to the messages coming through.

If you are thinking of having a reading, my suggestion it to do your research. Ask family and friends who they have gone to and what their experience was like. Google the Medium’s name and see their reviews. Visit their social media accounts and see if you feel drawn. I am the first one to tell you that I am not for everyone. Some people just don’t click with my energy and that is perfectly fine. Find someone you feel would offer what you are looking to receive. Experience it for yourself. Make your own decision.

Let’s continue, l think I should explain what being an Evidential Medium means. Quite simply put, they give you evidence about your loved one. They will offer 3-5 pieces of evidence; their relationship with you, the way they passed, how they looked, a important date or what their personality was like. Some will be able to tell your their name or draw a picture of them. There are all forms of information they will receive and give to you to see if it resonates with you. Be sure you only confirm what make sense to you and try not to feed the Medium extra information. They need to know what you understand so they can continue. We receive signs and symbols that flash quickly in our minds and they are asking to be sure they are interpreting them correctly. If you do not understand it don’t make it fit. The reading can be a beautiful experience.

Now remember how they said their was no scientific proof? No checks and balances? There is the Pavlovian test that pairs sound and light in the brain waves while channeling. Remote viewing where the Medium or Psychic is in a different location and they are given coordinates to zoom in on objects or places. Also used to help find missing people. Ganzfeld experiment that used mild sensory deprivation to test for extrasensory perception and many more.

In a training a while ago, the students, including myself were blindfolded in a room and then asked to give a reading to a group of people. I was unable to see who was speaking so of course I would not be able to read body language or see if I was going in the wrong direction by watching the sitter. The reading, although I was nervous about falling off the stage was very interesting to me. Without my sight other senses were more intense. We took it one step further, we were given the blindfolds, set on chairs shoulder to shoulder and then after blindfolded the sitter came in and sat in front of us. This time tapping our knee once for yes, twice for no and three times for try again. I could hear all the other Mediums speaking as they were doing their reading, but I could not hear my sitter because not only could I not see them, but I could not hear their voice either. This test was also interesting for me. Jumping from right brain to left brain to be able to only focus on what spirit was offering. This gave me an entirely different respect for spirit. They will find a way to get through even if I cannot see or hear the sitter.

My big epiphany was that two magicians who fool the world through entertainment of sleight of hand and illusions insisting this could not be done. Well, I am here to tell you that it can happen. Just because they can’t do it doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Are we right 100% of the time? No. We make mistakes or misinterpret information. We are human. Realize also, that sometimes clients want so badly to hear from one person that they forget about others who have passed so things don’t make sense until later. I receive so many calls and emails afterwards, sometimes days or weeks later saying I understand what you were talking about now. They’ve relistened to the reading or spoken to relatives and something clicks.

I guess why I’m speaking about this today is because I feel so drawn to help people know that death is a new spiritual life. A beginning of a new phase of life for the ones who have passed. I remember a reading I did several years ago that I will never forget. I don’t remember a lot about what is said, because if I did it would probably make me crazy. But there are certain sessions that stay in my mind like this one. I was facilitating a small intimate group, maybe 10 people in a home. There was a women sitting to my left on a couch, arms folded, shaking her head and rolling her eyes as I brought Spirit through. It got to the point where I asked her if she was here because she wanted to be here or because someone made her come. She quickly said she was with her daughter to make sure I didn’t scam her. Fun right?! All of a sudden, I heard ask her who Isabella is. So, I asked. The women’s mouth dropped, and she just looked at me in shock. I remarked that Isabella is her to speak with you, can I bring her through? She looked surprised and replied, that was her mom’s name. I was given so much detailed information for her that she knew without a doubt her om was speaking to me. I especially love when I can communicate the proper name. Names like Jim, John, Mary are common somewhere in the family, but I was so proud of spirit when they gave me Isabella.

To sum all of this up, if you have never gone to a Medium but have interest in a reading, look for the key word, Evidential. Research their reviews on their social media, google their name and see what information you are given, ask friends and family about their experiences. Record the session and let other family member listen as they may be able to validate things you may not know. If you have had a reading that was not good, don’t go back. Just think about getting a second opinion from another Medium. Just like a second opinion for work to be done or a diagnosis that doesn’t make sense. You seek to find a better understanding. We all want to have one more conversation with someone who has passed. There could be someone that can offer that to you.

Although, Penn and Teller are well known for their performance of illusions they are not the end all be all of what is real in the spiritual realm.

Here are things to keep it mind. A little heads up.

If they say you have an attachment and you need several readings to release it for which you are paying a lot of money to clear. Run.

If they won’t let you record the session. Run (why wouldn’t you be able to record? What are they hiding?)

If they tell you your loved one is angry and have not been able to cross. They are stuck and you have to have more session to release your loved one into peace. - Run

If they are filled with questions before the session or seem too general. IE: Your mother loves you and wants you to be ok. That is your message. Next.

When making your appointment, do not give them a lot of information beforehand.

PS: I do not have time to google your name or look you up on social media to find information about you. If you don’t want to give me your name no problem or give me a fake name. Spirit knows who is coming. I work for Spirit.

Here is my ask of you. If the Medium gives you a lot of information and you know without a doubt this is your loved one, please do not play stump the Medium. Well, if it was really them, they would have told you my favorite ice cream flavor. So, I gave you the relation to you, how they passed, the month of their birth, how many siblings they had and that you were the only one with them when they passed at the farmhouse. But I don’t know your favorite ice cream, so it couldn’t be them.

My work is something I take very seriously. I don’t call them home parties; they are intimate readings. I don’t know when you will meet the perfect mate. A Psychic reading may be able to guide you, but you have free will and may screw it up. But I can give you evidence of your loved one.

I want you to know without a doubt that your loved one is ok. We, the ones left behind are not. We are grieving and long to have them here with us but they are on another path right now.

Do your research, go with an open mind, ask your loved one to show up, take something of theirs with you and sit back and let Spirit do what they do best. Invite them to come through with a loving, healing message. It may not get rid of your grief, but it could start the healing process.
