Walking by Faith, Not by Sight -One Medium’s Thought Process

This is going to be a different type of blog today. This is a blog from my heart as rebuttal, so to speak. This is no way is meant to change your view on anything, it is my opinion, and it is my passion of how I aspire to live.

I was watching a podcaster a few weeks ago that had a guest who was a “reformed astrologer”, those where her words not mine. She had a lot to say about spirituality, healing, mediumship and the world I live in. Although, I was very happy about her newfound faith, I found her to also be very judgmental in some of her statements.

Ok, here we go….

One of many of her comments was that anyone who is a Medium or works with energy is unable to say the Lord’s name without stammering or getting negative feedback from the people they are servicing. Stating Mediums, Reiki Practitioners and anyone who works in the metaphysical world, as doing evil and being tricked. All types of deviation tools (cards, pendulums, books, dowsing rods, stones and crystals) were also evil. I listened to her speak of these things, saying she had firsthand experience in this having once been an astrologer. I thought about everything she had to say. I prayed about it and spoke to a trusted friend on the topic. If you are a follower of Tuesday Talks at 10:30 on my Facebook Group (link at the bottom), this was this week’s topic. I can proclaim and will always proclaim that Christ as my Savior. I am a child of the Living God; Jesus Christ and He is my personal savior. I am in His service. To give service to the world, but I am a child of God first. Without God, I would be lost.

She posed a question and then answered it. She asked, “why do you think people in the spiritual world don’t say God, instead they say the universe, Source, Creator? Because they cannot say God.” My rebuttal question is short and sweet, why are you hung up on the words I use? I ask this because I can follow it up with facts from the Bible. God created the universe. He is the beginning and the end. This would make Him the universe. God created the heavens and the earth. Would that not make Him Creator? In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. Would that not make Him Source? She seemed to place God’s abilities in a box. There are many names of God because God can do all things. Just off the top of my head different words used instead of God; He is the Alpha and the Omega, The Rock, I Am, Father, Lord and Master, The Annointed One, Living God, The Most High, Everlasting God, The God Who Sees, The Creator, The Lord our provider, Shepherd (as in The Lord is my), Healer, Lord of Hosts, Lord of Peace, Our dwelling place , the Word, Teacher and so many more. Why are we so sensitive about words these days, when we should be loving in all aspects of life? Let’s agree that God is, and you fill in the rest.

I see God everywhere. In the trees and grass. In human life and animals, in acts from others. My husband had a bumper sticker on an old pickup truck he had that said, “I’m not religious, I just love the Lord.” Yes!! I am a child of God. A child means, still learning, still listening, still becoming. The Creator had creating us. We are all a work in progress.

In the interview she spoke about self-help books. Stating that self-help books place the focus on self (ego) and disregards God. We gather with like-minded people. We claim to be healers. For me, I have been a constant student of how the brain functions in different situations, I want to know what I can do to help others, how I can grow to be the best version of myself. This is not just for my benefit, but for the benefit of those around me.

Now, I will admit, I usually talk about how to work through the things of this earth. Situations that we need to be faced and worked through to be a better version of ourselves. We’ve all had things in our past that have traumatized us or made us feel a certain way. My thought process is that if we don’t walk through it and speak about it, how can we help others who feel as though they are alone in the world? If you feel you can’t resolve this alone, seek professional help. When you attend an AA meeting, the old timers will say, you’ll eventually hear your story, you are not alone.

Her opinion on Reiki, energy and yoga were also placed in the same category. She was firm in stating that only God can heal. I agree, that without faith in God’s healing hands we would not be able to heal in His name. I’d like to give you something to think about. If God didn’t offer ways to help us heal, why would Dr’s go to school to study the human anatomy? This is learned information, studied from books that explains how the body responds to different things. Reiki healers also study how the anatomy of energy, how it affects the body’s healing. God facilitates our hands, our energy to heal others if God sees fit. Yoga was also brought up. Saying yoga and chanting calls on and honors false idols. Anything about natural healing she was claiming was evil. She talked on and on but never once saying anything about healing in Biblical times. Faith healing in churches, prayer and fasting. Jesus walked on water and told Peter that with his faith he could also walk on water. And for a short distance, Peter did walk on water but then lost the faith of what he was doing and slowly sunk into the water. Did Jesus just walk away, no, he put his hand out and helped Peter out of the water.

She was firm to claim that no one speaks to God and hears his answer. The bible clearly states that Moses spoke to God through a burning bush. Preacher state they speak to God and are given messages to pass on. If you have a relationship with God, guess what He will speak to you and through you. I promise this to you. God spoke about it being easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God. Money, fame, arrogance will do you no good. It is through a faithful relationship with Christ and being for service for others in His name, this is how to enter the kingdom of heaven.

A few years ago, I was going through a very difficult time. I used mantras and affirmations to help my mind, body and spirit find peace. These mantras are verses that helped me release fear and doubt. God spoke to my spirit through these words:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

My God serves my needs according to His riches and His Glory.

He who is within me is greater than he who is of this earth.

Please don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of bad people out there. I’ll back that statement up by saying there is still good in them, they just haven’t found it and maybe they won’t find it. But that is not for me to judge. I do not know their story; I do not know their heart. Only God knows their heart. There are and will be false prophets. I don’t think they will come out and say it but watch their actions. See if it lines up with their words. Be aware of what you watch, listen to, surround yourself in. Where is their heart? Lean into your heart? Ask God to show you and trust how it is shown.

I pray for all past, present and future healers of the world and I urge you to do the same. We are all healers in one way or another. Where two or more are gathered, God is there. Join me in sending healing prayers to the world on a daily basis. Shine your light and pray that we do better. I ask that God would protect us from being deceived. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. My goal, my passion, my calling is to help make this world a better place through actions, not just these words. To offer love. We are all made from love. We have plenty to share with some who may have lost hope in being or knowing love. To those who are within eye or ear sight of me, I hope you know you are loved, know that miracles happen every day. Ask and you shall receive. God make us so many promises. He just asks us to believe, just a Peter believed he could walk to water.

This woman was on fire for her new faith, and I applaud her first steps and pray for her journey. But while doing this she stood in judgement of a group of hearts. Why must we stereotype everything? We are all unique individuals. Speaking out of both sides of your mouth only sends misinformation that could ultimately affect others. I know she is still learning so I in no way want to be in judgement of her. If you don’t place God in a box, He will show up in miraculous ways.

I’m not trying to defend or talk you into anything. I am defending the fact that this Medium typing this blog can declare the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe we need to do better. I believe we can do better.” Ask and ye shall receive.” I’m asking you to join me in manifesting a world where our children feel safe and know they are loved. Where we don’t fear sending them to school. “Knock and the door will be answered.” I’m knocking. I’m asking you to open the door in faith. If you feel lost it, ask for help, love and forgiveness. God knows your heart and your intensions. Together, we can make this world a better place.

Also, refer to 1 Corinthians 12 for a better explanation.

God bless you, always in service of God,
